MUNREAUX. Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in contributing to our publication. We are a visual arts–focused platform highlighting independent artists, photographers, and small businesses, with a commitment to uplifting work from underrepresented and historically marginalized communities.

We’re drawn to work that tells a story, documents culture, explores identity, or captures the texture of our community in a compelling way.

What We’re Looking For

We accept submissions in the following categories:

  • Photography (documentary, portrait, street, conceptual, editorial)

  • Visual Art (painting, illustration, mixed media, digital art)

  • Photo Essays / Visual Series

  • Creative Collaborations (artists working with small businesses, community projects, etc.)

  • Small Business Features (visual storytelling highlighting makers, storefronts, or products)

We strongly encourage submissions from artists and founders who identify as part of underrepresented BIPOC communities including but not limited to LGBTQ+, immigrant, and disabled-identifying persons.

General Requirements

  • All work must be original and created by the submitter.

  • Work may be previously unpublished or published; however, prior publication must be disclosed.

  • We do not accept simultaneous submissions per issue.

  • Submit one cohesive submission per category per reading period.

Submission Format

  • Images:

    • 5–15 images per submission (for series or essays)

    • High-resolution , 300 DPI .jpg or .png files

    • Minimum 1500px on the longest side recommended

    • Up to 10MB per file, larger files may be compressed to reduce size

    • Scanned and analog work is welcome if reproduced clearly, with material traces intact where relevant

    • Text and mixed-media submissions should be provided as print-legible PDFs

    • Time-based work may be submitted as a single excerpt (up to 2.5 minutes, MP4, 1080p), with links for longer pieces

Technical perfection is not the goal, but clarity is—work should hold its presence across print and/or screen without losing detail.

  • File naming: LastName_Title_01.filetype (or similar consistent format)

  • Accompanying Materials (required):

    • Project description / artist statement (100–300 words)

    • Image list (titles, dates, medium, optional captions)

    • Short bio (50–150 words)

    • Website / portfolio / social links (if available)

If submitting a request for an interview or studio visit for a small business, please include:

  • Business name and location

  • Brief background/story (150–300 words)

  • Description of products/services

  • Role of the submitter (owner, collaborator, photographer, etc.)

  • Artists retain full copyright to their work.

  • We may promote accepted work across our platforms with proper credit.

Editing & Presentation

  • We may suggest light edits (cropping, sequencing, or text edits) in collaboration with you.

  • Final layout and presentation decisions are made by our editorial team.
